Mariners vs Padres Model Projection
- Score Projection: Mariners 3 - Padres 5
- Win Probability: Mariners 42%, Padres 58%
The pitching matchup suggests a chaotic game early. Castillo’s inflated ERA and high hit rate are concerning against a Padres lineup that is producing consistently and showing confidence late in games. Buehler has not been dominant, yet he has been steadier, and he benefits from facing a Seattle offense hitting just .205 as a team.
Beyond the starting pitchers, the bullpen gap is significant right now. Seattle’s relief unit faltered badly in the previous game, while San Diego continues to get timely outs and clutch hitting. Add in the Padres’ superior team batting average and recent surge, and the edge becomes clearer. Expect San Diego to control this contest and capitalize on scoring opportunities. I'll take the Padres to get the win as a slight underdog in this matchup.
