The Los Angeles Dodgers head north of the border on Monday night to open a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays, and the early-season form of these two clubs could not look more different. Los Angeles enters at 7-2 and just completed a series sweep, while Toronto has dropped four straight games and is trying to stabilize both its lineup and pitching staff. With a veteran ace on one side and a young arm on the other, this opener is the first time these teams have met since the Dodgers vs Blue Jays World Series in October.

Key Storylines
- This is a rematch of last year's World Series, which the Dodgers won in dramatic fashion.
- The Dodgers enter 7-2 with one of the most productive offenses in baseball, hitting .285 as a team
- The Blue Jays have lost four straight and were just swept at home, scoring very little during that stretch.
- The Jays' four-game losing streak came against the lowly Rockies and White Sox, which is concerning coming into this series against the LA juggernaut.
- Los Angeles has already hit 16 home runs compared to Toronto’s 10.
Pitching Matchup
- Justin Wrobleski has a 6.75 ERA in limited action and is still finding his rhythm early in the season.
- Max Scherzer has been sharp with a 1.50 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP through his first start.
- Scherzer has the clear edge in experience and command, but may need near perfection, given current run support issues and the lineup he is up against.
Key Players
- Andy Pages is off to a blazing start for the Dodgers with a .471 average and 10 RBI.
- Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani remain central to a deep and dangerous lineup for the Dodgers.
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. provides power for Toronto but has not consistently delivered yet this season.
- Andres Gimenez leads the Blue Jays with 7 RBI and has been one of their few steady contributors.
Betting Trends & H2H
- This is the first of three meetings this season between LA and Toronto.
- The Dodgers are 5-4 to the over in the early stages of this season.
- The under is 5-4 in Toronto's games so far in 2026.
Dodgers vs Blue Jays Model Projection
- Score Projection: Los Angeles Dodgers 4 - Toronto Blue Jays 5
- Win Probability: Los Angeles Dodgers 46%, Toronto Blue Jays 54%
The Jays have struggled early in the season, but I think they will turn things around at least for one night on Monday. Scherzer gives the Jays a significant starting pitching advantage in this contest, even if he has to take on one of the most potent lineups in the league. I'll take the Jays as slight underdogs on the moneyline at home in this matchup, as they should get a small measure of revenge against the team that defeated them in last year's World Series.
