The Toronto Argonauts will travel West to take on the Calgary Stampeders in Week 20 of the CFL season on Saturday. Calgary has a chance to lock up a playoff spot this weekend and the Argos will try to play spoiler despite being out of playoff contention. Here, I break down this matchup in the Canadian Football League and give you my Argonauts vs Stampeders prediction for Saturday's game.
Line / Spread | Moneyline | Total (O/U) |
|---|---|---|
Calgary –9.5 | Toronto +360 | Calgary –470 | 52.5 |
Toronto is without Nick Arbuckle under centre. He had 4,370 passing yards and 26 touchdowns on the year. Toronto will turn to Jarret Doege to play quarterback in his place. In his most recent start, Doege completed 20 of 31 pass attempts for 221 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.
Calgary’s Vernon Adams Jr. has thrown for 3,749 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions this season. He ranks fifth in the CFL in passing yards going into this week. He has mobility and enough arm talent to make him a dangerous dual threat. With a stable offensive line and a running back like Dedrick Mills, Adams can carve up defenses when he avoids putting the ball in harm's way.
Score Projection: Toronto 18 – Calgary 31
Win Probability: Toronto 22%, Calgary 78%
I am laying the points with the Stampeders in this Week 20 matchup. The Stamps are still playing for a spot in the postseason and they should take full advantage of the quarterback situation for the Argos. Look for Vernon Adams to play well and for the Stamps to win by double-digits at home.
