- Napheesa Collier is listed as doubtful for this game after suffering a foot injury against the Connecticut Sun last week.
- The Lynx are just 5-4 on the road this season and they could struggle to win this game outright, let alone cover the number here.
The Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks have played in some memorable championship matchups throughout their history. And while only one of them looks like a championship contender here in 2024, we may still get a very good game between them on Tuesday night at crypto.com Arena. Here, we make our WNBA betting picks for Lynx vs Sparks from LA.
This game will be played at crypto.com Arena at 10:00 PM ET on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Minnesota Lynx
The Minnesota Lynx have a record of 15-6 going into this week’s WNBA action. That is good for third in the league standings behind the Connecticut Sun and New York Liberty. But an injury to one of the most influential players on the Lynx could impact them negatively going into tonight’s Lynx vs Sparks showdown, which is the only game on the WNBA schedule for Tuesday.
If Minnesota is going to win tonight, they are going to need to find a way to replace the production of Napheesa Collier. Collier, named to this year’s USA Basketball Olympic team, is dealing with a foot injury that she suffered against the Connecticut Sun last week. If the Lynx don’t have Collier in their lineup, we could see more usage from Dorka Juhasz, especially without Cameron Brink available on the other side.
Los Angeles Sparks
Going into Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Sparks hold a record of 5-16, which puts them a half-game above the Dallas Wings and Washington Mystics who have the worst records in the WNBA standings. The Sparks have been competitive in their last couple of games, though, upsetting the Las Vegas Aces at home before nearly upsetting the Phoenix Mercury as well. Tonight, Curt Miller’s team will look to pull another upset on their home floor.
Look for Los Angeles to try and take advantage of the absence of Collier in this game by going to Dearica Hamby early and often. Hamby is coming off of two straight games scoring 25 or more points, including a 28-point performance in LA’s win over the Aces on Friday night. Expect another big night from her as the Sparks look to prove once again that they are a live underdog.
