- Las Vegas leads the WNBA in scoring and that could be a problem against an inconsistent Atlanta team.
- Rhyne Howard has shot under 30% in two of her last three games and that could be a problem against the two-time defending champs.
The Friday night WNBA schedule features an interesting contest between the Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream. While the two-time defending champs are favored in this game, Atlanta is always capable of putting a great 40 minutes together, as they look to upset the champs in Atlanta. Continue reading for our WNBA betting picks for Aces vs Dream in what could be an exciting offensive showcase.
This game will be played at 7:30 PM ET at Gateway Center on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Las Vegas Aces
The Las Vegas Aces sit in second place in the WNBA standings heading into this weekend’s action. They are 4-1, with their lone loss coming to the Phoenix Mercury in a shocking upset last week. But Vegas has rebounded nicely from that defeat with a blowout win over the Indiana Fever and a convincing victory over the Minnesota Lynx. Now, the Aces look for a third straight win in tonight’s Aces vs Dream clash.
For Vegas, the usual suspects like A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, and Kelsey Plum have all been delivering at a high level. That has been crucial with Chelsea Gray still out due to the injury she suffered in last season’s WNBA Finals against the New York Liberty. But Kate Martin has emerged as a contributor off the bench, having made half of her three-point attempts in each of the last two games. If she can continue to provide a perimeter threat in short bursts, the Aces could be an even more dangerous offensive team.
Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream have won three of their first five games to start the 2024 season in the WNBA. They got a win on the road in their last game against the winless Washington Mystics. But the Dream have alternated wins and losses in each of their first five games of the year, a trend they will attempt to buck against the Aces tonight.
If the Dream are going to beat the two-time defending champs tonight, they are going to need a more consistent offensive performance from Rhyne Howard. Howard is averaging a solid 19 points per game on the season. But she struggled mightily for most of Atlanta’s last game against the Mystics and has made under 30% of her field goal attempts in two of the Dream’s last three contests. If Atlanta wants a shot here, they are going to need their star to step up in a big way.
