- The Mystics got their first win of the season last time out, but they are set to be without both Shakira Austin and Brittney Sykes again tonight.
- Chicago beat Washington in Washington earlier in the season despite shooting 1/14 from three-point range in that game.
The Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky will face off at Entertainment & Sports Arena on Friday night, with both teams occupying bottom-five spots in the WNBA standings going into the game. And while neither of these teams have played like elite squads in the W this year, they did play a tight game against one another earlier in the season and we could see another entertaining affair tonight. We have you covered with our WNBA betting picks for Sky vs Mystics right here.
This game will be played at Entertainment & Sports Arena at 7:30 PM ET on Friday, June 14, 2024.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky are off to a 4-7 start to the WNBA season, putting them in eighth place in the league standings. The Sky have lost two games in a row, falling at home against the Connecticut Sun after losing at home to the Atlanta Dream. But they already have a win in Washington under their belt this season and will look to improve to 2-0 on the road against the Mystics on the season tonight.
If that is going to happen, the Sky have to be better from three-point range than they were the last time they were in Washington. Chicago shot 1/14 from three-point range in their 79-71 win against the Mystics just over a week ago. And while they still did enough to win that game, they really left things to chance with their shooting woes. Chicago will need some more from Marina Mabrey from the outside if they want a less dramatic victory this time around.
Washington Mystics
Going into tonight’s Sky vs Mystics matchup, the Washington Mystics hold a record of 1-12. They got a win in their last game, finally breaking into the win column with a blowout win over the Atlanta Dream. But they could be in for another rough night tonight as injuries have taken away arguably their two best players once again in this contest.
Brittney Sykes made her season debut for the Mystics in their win over the Dream. After missing the first 12 games of the year due to an injury, Sykes scored 18 points, but also suffered a foot injury that will keep her out of this contest. Without Sykes in the lineup, the Mystics once again will struggle to find perimeter scoring, something the Sky should be able to exploit.
