- The Dream have the worst offense in the WNBA and the Sun have the best defense in the league, which should mean a low-scoring night for Atlanta.
- The Sun are also on the second night of a back-to-back, which should mean an underwhelming night on offense from them.
There are two games on the WNBA schedule for Friday night. The first of those games comes from Connecticut, where the Connecticut Sun will face off with the Atlanta Dream. Connecticut is on the second night of a back-to-back here, while the Dream are dealing with a key injury, as both teams look to overcome adversity and get a win in this spot. Continue reading for our WNBA betting picks for Dream vs Sun.
This game will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30 PM ET on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream are 6-9 going into Friday night’s WNBA action, which is good for seventh place in the league standings. Atlanta has lost three games in a row, which has largely coincided with the absence of Rhyne Howard, who is dealing with an injury to her left ankle. They will look to overcome Howard’s absence here, though this could be a bad matchup for a Dream squad that is dealing with offensive issues even with Howard in the lineup.
Atlanta ranks at the bottom of the WNBA in scoring, averaging just 75.9 points per game. Without Howard, they have lost by double-digits in two straight contests. The question for Atlanta will be who is going to step up to fill the scoring void left by Howard’s absence in a game Atlanta hopes is not a fourth consecutive loss.
Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun are playing for the second night in a row tonight after beating the Washington Mystics on Thursday. That game was closer than anticipated, as the Sun fell behind by double-digits and had to claw their way back to win in overtime. In tonight’s Dream vs Sun matchup, the Sun hope that things are much more straightforward.
For Connecticut to have an easier night than they did in Washington on Thursday, they will need to do a better job on the defensive end of the floor. The Sun let the Mystics shoot over 50% from the floor, while making 11 threes. Their defensive lapses on the pick and pop with Stefanie Dolson nearly cost them that contest and the Sun will have to clean those lapses up to win this game in a more convincing fashion.
