Murray vs Tsitsipas Betting Pick
Andy Murray Moneyline (-130) over Stefanos Tsitsipas
✅ Murray comes into this match with a significant rest advantage. He got through the first round in 2:03 in a straight sets win on Tuesday, while Tsitsipas played the bulk of his four-hour, five-set match on Wednesday. Murray should be the fresher player here and will come through as a result.
✅ Murray will also have the crowd fully on his side in this match, as he is playing in this tournament on home soil, with fans not knowing how many more Wimbledons Murray has in him.
✅ Tsitsipas won in the first round, but he is still not a great performer at Wimbledon, as he has never made it through the fourth round of this prestigious event.
Andy Murray
Andy Murray was great in the first round of Wimbledon, as he took down fellow Brit Ryan Peniston in straight sets. Murray dropped just four service games in that match, and should come into this match with Stefanos Tsitsipas as the fresher player because of that. The question going into this match is whether Murray can deliver a similar level of performance against a much better player than he faced on Tuesday.
These two players have split their two all-time meetings, with Tsitsipas winning in five sets at the 2021 US Open and Murray winning at straight sets in Stuttgart in 2022. That Stuttgart match was on grass, as Murray is certainly the better grass court player between these two men. If he can hold up to the challenge of Tsitsipas physically, Murray should be able to advance to the third round.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas needed just under four hours and multiple days to beat Dominic Thiem. The Greek won that match in a fifth-set tiebreak, claiming that tiebreak 10-8 with a brilliant passing shot to close out the match once and for all. Here, Tsitsipas will not only need to beat Andy Murray, but he will need to beat a crowd at the All England Club that will be desperate for a Murray victory.
In order to win this match, Tsitsipas will need to be better at returning serve than he was in the first round. Against a player in Thiem who is not a particularly big server, Tsitsipas generated just three break points in five sets of tennis. That will not be good enough against Murray, given all of the other factors working in the Brit’s favor going into this matchup.
