Why Bet On Switzerland:
✅ Switzerland still has some gas left in the tank despite their core aging somewhat. They split this year’s Nations League ties against Spain and Portugal, and have done well against much better competition than Cameroon.
✅ Cameroon, meanwhile, has not beaten any quality opposition this year. Their best win in 2022 was their 2-1 extra time win over Algeria in their African qualification finale. Outside of that, their best win this year might be Burkina Faso, who is respectable, but not quite at that World Cup level of quality.
✅ Cameroon has lost seven straight group stage matches at the World Cup dating back to 2002. Even the presence of a superstar like Samuel Eto’o in previous World Cups has not been enough to help them, and that will continue to be the case here.

Switzerland
Switzerland may be looking at their last chance for a long time to make an impression at a World Cup. Their top players like Xherdan Shaqiri are entering their MLS phases, and are not getting any younger. Fortunately, they get an opponent to start the tournament that has struggled in a huge way in recent editions of the tournament.
For Switzerland, remaining aggressive for 90 minutes is going to be huge here. Cameroon is not known for its conservative nature on the field, and Switzerland will be able to unlock plenty of scoring chances if they simply keep their foot to the gas from start to finish here.
Cameroon
Like it or not, Africa gets five teams in the World Cup every four years. From those five teams have come plenty of success stories like Ghana in 2010 and Algeria in 2014. But Cameroon has not been one of those success stories. They have been bounced in the group stage in each of their last five World Cup appearances, and are likely to do so again this time around.
That isn’t to say that they are without quality players in their side. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is one of the better players in the world right now. But like Samuel Eto’o in a Cameroon shirt, the Indomitable Lions simply do not have the talent around him to make moves in this tournament.
