Nigeria vs Egypt Betting Preview
Two of the top seven betting favorites get their AFCON campaign started as Egypt and Nigeria are set for battle Tuesday. Both teams should have no problem getting out of Group D and will be fighting for the top spot.
Nigeria has had a rough decade in AFCON as they have only qualified for three of the past six tournaments, but they did win the 2013 version in South Africa. The Super Eagles have finished third, in 2019, and first, in 2013, in their last two appearances. Nigeria has won AFCON three times in their history.

Egypt is the most decorated team in Africa but are looking for their first title since the 2010 edition. The Pharaohs won three straight editions, from 2006-2010, but have qualified for just three AFCONs since 2010. Egypt has won a record seven AFCON titles.
Nigeria vs Egypt Pick & Prediction
The Egyptians don’t have much defensive talent, but the midfield and forward line should carry this team pretty far. Mohamed Eleny (Arsenal), Omar Marmoush (Stuttgart), and Mahmoud Trezeguet (Aston Villa) should be a formidable midfield trio. The best player on any team is Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and he will be tasked with carrying this team all the way. Egypt is the third favorite to lift the title at +650.
Nigeria has been in a bit of turmoil entering this tournament, but there is still plenty of talent left on this team. The forward line lost Victor Osimhen and Emmanuel Dennis but will still boast the talented Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City and Samuel Chukwueze of Villareal. The Premier League trio of Alex Iwobi (Everton), Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City), and Frank Onyeka (Brentford) will man the midfield and William Troost Ekong is the big name in the defensive line. Nigeria is the seventh favorite at +1300.
