Friday is a good day to duck out of work if you can as the 2022 FIFA World Cup betting slate is once again full of some banger matches, including a tasty Netherlands vs Ecuador meeting in Group A.
Both Ecuador and Netherlands opened their World Cup campaigns with wins. Ecuador easily dispatched hosts Qatar, while Netherlands required some late heroics to eventually topple Senegal. A match winner here would likely top Group A, so the stakes are high for this one.
Netherlands as expected are the favorites, priced at -138 to take the three points over the +425 underdogs in Ecuador. The draw is priced at +260 odds and the total is set at 2.5 goals.

Why Bet On Netherlands:
✅ Netherlands handled a tough Senegal side in their group stage opener. The Dutch held their opponents to a clean sheet before Cody Gakpo scored the match winner in the 84th minute.
✅ Ecuador blew Qatar out of the water thanks to multiple goals from Enner Valencia. However, beating lowly Qatar does nothing to prove they can hang against tournament contenders.
✅ After the oranje beat a Senegal team with some world class talent from the Premier League in the Starting XI, it is a safer bet to back the favorite than to put your faith in Ecuador based off a big win over a cupcake matchup.

Netherlands
For nearly the entire 90 minutes, the Dutch’s first World Cup match of the tournament was a disaster. Senegal did well to frustrate the favorites, managing to outshoot Netherlands 15-10 in attempts and 4-3 in shots on target. Luckily for manager Louis van Gaal, emerging young star Cody Gakpo saved the day with a fantastic header.
Veteran forward Davy Klaasssen added a goal in the 99th minute to delight Asian Handicap bettors and make the scoreline look a lot more encouraging in the 2-0 win. Now, van Gaal will hope his players can find the back of the net a lot earlier when they take the pitch to face Ecuador.
Maintaining more possession and getting to more opportunities to put an attempt on goal will be key for the Dutch. They had just 54% possession and until the late stages, really lacked in true goalscoring opportunities. Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly’s presence was key in holding off the Dutch and the hope is Ecuador’s defenders will be a little easier to get behind than the brick wall that is the current Chelsea CB in Koulibaly.
Ecuador
It was a dream start to their World Cup for Ecuador, who didn’t have to wait to start celebrating as they flew out of the gates against Qatar. After a contentious goal was disallowed by VAR for offside, Ecuador earned a penalty in the 16th minute that was converted by the veteran Enner Valencia to take the lead.
Valencia added one more in the 31’ to add to his all-time World Cup goals tally and seal the 2-0 win. However, there weren’t many chances after the lead was built and Ecuador finished with just six total shots. Three of which were on target.
If Ecuador are to upset the Dutch, they will need to put in a full 90 minute effort. Getting another lead would be a dream but if they take their foot off the gas pedal like they did in the second half against Qatar, the Netherlands world class midfielders and forwards will make them pay.
