Why Bet On Wales:
✅ England backers will point to their motivation for a win against their historical rivals in this match but the same could be said for their matchup with the United States. Manager Gareth Southgate set up his squad with quite conservative tactics for the match against the Americans, leading to a bore draw final of Nil-Nil.
✅ Wales will be up for this match and hungry to either keep their tournament alive or be able to hang their heads high with a result against England. The Welsh also played quite well defensively against Iran before Wayne Hennessey’s red card in the late stages allowed the Iranians to score two late goals to steal the three points.
✅ Wales should benefit from some inspired performances from some of their national heroes that could be playing their last match for their country. The likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen could all be playing their final match in a major tournament for their country.

England
England manager Gareth Southgate drew criticism for a boring performance from his side against the United States but the important matter was that they earned the vital point required to all but guarantee their place in the Round of 16. Now, Southgate has another difficult decision as to whether he wants to earn a big win over their geographical rivals on the big stage or if he wants to play a roster with squad rotation in mind with the knockout rounds looming.
England will want revenge against a Wales squad that infamously celebrated the Three Lions early exit at Euro 2016 against Iceland. But they will likely seek out that revenge with an eye on the knockout round and some potential lineup changes to get some rest for the all-important Round of 16.
The big question will be if Harry Kane starts at striker and if so, how long the attacking talisman will play against Wales. Kane picked up a knock against Iran but did play the entirety of the 0-0 draw against the USA. The Tottenham striker looked a bit off it due to the injury, which begs the question as to if the best move for the bigger picture would be to sit Kane down for this match.
Wales
Wales did well to earn a late equalizer against the Americans in their first match but it was the late minutes that spelled their downfall against Iran. After watching their keeper get sent off, Wales had to watch their World Cup dreams flash before their eyes as Iran poured in two late goals to put them in severe danger of elimination.
If Wales want to survive, they will need to find a way to beat an England team that doesn’t lose to them often. In fact, an English squad that flamed out in hilarious fashion at Euro 2016 beat Wales 2-1 in the group stages before the infamous loss to Iceland in the knockout rounds. That history doesn’t play in the favor of the Welsh, who will need to overcome the psychological disadvantage of being the little brother to the Three Lions to earn the three points in this ‘international derby’
Wales will need a far better performance from Gareth Bale than the effort Bale displayed against Iran. A big ask for Bale, who barely played in the MLS Cup title run for LAFC and now will be playing his third match in just over a week.
Fitness concerns were always going to be an issue for Bale, who needs to desperately find the fountain of youth for this all-important group stage finale if he is to bring out the heroics he has displayed time and time again for his country as well as for Tottenham, Real Madrid and in the MLS Cup Final for LAFC. Big goals are Bale’s bread and butter but it is unlikely a big goal will come late as it is expected the aging veteran will lose effectiveness as this match rolls along.
