Carolina has been among the league’s more consistent clubs this season. They sit at 16-7-2 overall and have an 8-3-1 record at home. In games decided by one goal, they are 7-2-1. Their latest result, a hard-fought 1-0 overtime victory over Calgary, shows the team can grind out wins even when the offense stalls.
Toronto enters this game at 12-11-3 overall and 4-7-0 on the road. They have had an up-and-down few weeks. However, the 4-1 victory over Florida is a sign they can still produce against quality competition. Over their last 10 games they are 4-4-2 and will try to get a statement win in this contest.
The goaltending situation in this game should be interesting. Joseph Woll is expected to start for Toronto and he comes into the game with a 2.53 GAA and a .924 save percentage. He will be opposed by Frederik Andersen, who has a 3.08 GAA and has struggled at times this year. Goaltending could be the best hope for the Leafs to hang around in this contest.
Carolina’s offense is being led by forwards like Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho. Jarvis has been especially dangerous, with five goals and two assists over the last 10 games. Aho remains a steady playmaker, leading the Canes in points and assists on the season. On the Toronto side, John Tavares leads the way with 13 goals and 16 assists on the season. William Nylander has a team-high 21 assists and 32 total points.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Seth Jarvis (CAR) | Over 0.5 Goals |
Auston Matthews (TOR) | Over 0.5 Points |
Sebastian Aho (CAR) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Carolina 4 – Toronto 2
Win Probability: Carolina 64%, Toronto 36%
I'm going to take the over in this contest between the Canes and Leafs. These teams combined for a high-scoring game in their first matchup of the season and I'm expecting more of the same, especially with the goaltending situation being less than ideal for the Canes.
