Colorado arrives after a 3–1 win over Vancouver, and that result continues a red‑hot run where the Avalanche have looked dominant offensively and defensively. Their overall record now stands at 19‑1‑6 and the Avs have lost just one game in regulation this season. The Islanders snapped a mini losing streak by beating the Lightning 2–1, powered by timely scoring and a clutch performance from goaltender Ilya Sorokin. That said, New York remains middling at home (6‑6‑2) and in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division.
For the Islanders, Sorokin is the go-to netminder. He delivered 29 saves on Tuesday and nearly posted a shutout. His performance is crucial if New York hopes to slow Colorado’s offense. On the Colorado side, Scott Wedgewood is listed as day-to-day going into this matchup. But if he's out, Mackenzie Blackwood has also performed well and would be trusted to hold down the fort in net.
Nathan MacKinnon remains the driving force for Colorado. Coming off a two‑goal night against Vancouver, he continues to pace the Avalanche in points and remains central to their offensive firepower. On New York’s side, Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal remain the primary offensive catalysts. Horvat leads the Islanders in points and goals, while Barzal represents the Islanders’ next-best chance to generate sustained pressure and create scoring chances.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Nathan MacKinnon (COL) | Over 1.5 Points |
Bo Horvat (NYI) | Over 0.5 Points |
Mathew Barzal (NYI) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Colorado Avalanche 5 – New York Islanders 2
Win Probability: Colorado Avalanche 62%, New York Islanders 38%
All signs point toward Colorado controlling this game. Their offensive depth and goaltending stability give them a clear edge, even with Colorado possibly turning to their backup in net due to Wedgewood's health status. Expect Colorado to clinch a second win of the season over New York, cover the puckline, and perhaps even push the total over the 6.5‑goal number.
