Maple Leafs vs Blue Jackets Player Props: Marchenko Has a Point to Prove

The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, October 20, and I suspect Kirill Marchenko has had this date circled on his calendar for a while.
Less than a month after Columbus traded him to Toronto in a blockbuster deal involving Matthew Knies, Marchenko returns to Nationwide Arena. Given how that departure unfolded, there's plenty of intrigue surrounding his first game against his former teammates.
Fortunately for Toronto, he's been producing. Marchenko has registered 10 points in his first 10 games with the Maple Leafs, including a hat trick against Buffalo last Thursday.
I'm not necessarily expecting another goal-scoring explosion, but I do like his chances of getting on the scoresheet.
Marchenko has recorded at least one point in eight of his ten appearances this season. His latest contribution came Monday against San Jose, when he assisted on Auston Matthews' power-play goal in Toronto's 3-1 victory.
He's also seeing plenty of opportunities. Marchenko is currently playing alongside Nick Paul and Easton Cowan at even strength, while remaining involved with Toronto's top power-play unit.
And there's an interesting subplot here.
Marchenko led Columbus in goals for three consecutive seasons before being traded. The Blue Jackets know exactly how dangerous he can be, particularly when given space to shoot.
There's also Matthew Knies, who went the other way in September's trade. Knies made an excellent first impression with two goals and an assist against Buffalo, but hasn't contributed a point in his last five games.
Marchenko, meanwhile, has been much more consistent.
Toronto's schedule is my biggest concern. The Maple Leafs played Monday night and now face a rested Columbus team, which could influence their offensive production.
But Marchenko doesn't need another hat trick to make this worthwhile. One goal or assist will do.
My preferred position is Kirill Marchenko to record at least one point.
I'd estimate his probability at approximately 63–67%, making an entry price of 59¢ or lower worth considering.
His eight-for-ten record is encouraging, although it's still a small sample. Columbus also knows his tendencies better than most opponents, while Toronto's back-to-back schedule creates additional uncertainty.
Nevertheless, Marchenko's offensive role and early production make him a considerably more appealing candidate than some of the secondary scoring options in this matchup.
