Ducks vs Islanders Player Props Prediction: Schaefer Keeps Firing

The Anaheim Ducks visit the New York Islanders on Tuesday, October 20, and the scheduling situation isn't particularly kind to Anaheim.
The Ducks suffered a 5-2 defeat against the Rangers on Monday, their third consecutive loss, and now face an Islanders team that hasn't played since Saturday. New York also enters the matchup having collected points in three straight games.
For player props, I'm looking at Matthew Schaefer. The Islanders defenseman has been remarkably aggressive offensively, and I think there's a reasonable case for another busy night.
Schaefer has registered 31 shots through eight games this season, averaging just under four per appearance. More importantly, he's reached at least four shots in four of his last five games, including eight against Tampa Bay on October 10.
That's quite a shooting profile for a defenseman.
His workload helps explain the numbers. Schaefer has regularly played more than 25 minutes per game, including nearly 30 against Ottawa last Thursday. He's also seeing substantial power-play time, giving him opportunities to generate shots beyond five-on-five play.
Anaheim presents an interesting matchup. The Ducks have allowed approximately 26 shots per game, which is hardly disastrous, but their recent performances have been inconsistent. Calgary registered 36 shots against them last week, while the Rangers generated 30 on Monday.
Playing consecutive nights certainly won't help Anaheim's defensive discipline.
Schaefer is projected to remain alongside Logan Stanley on New York's top defensive pairing. With the Islanders still missing Mathew Barzal and now dealing with injuries to Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie, maintaining offensive contributions from the blue line becomes even more valuable.
Still, there's a difference between liking Schaefer's involvement and expecting another eight-shot performance. Four is a much more sensible target.
My preferred position is Matthew Schaefer to record at least four shots on goal, provided a suitable prediction-market contract becomes available.
I'd estimate his probability of reaching that mark at approximately 52–54%. That makes an entry price of 47¢ or lower worth considering.
There are some obvious risks. Despite his recent production, Schaefer has also finished with two shots on multiple occasions this season. Anaheim isn't consistently allowing huge shot totals, either, so this isn't necessarily a matchup where New York will dominate possession for 60 minutes.
However, Schaefer's combination of ice time, offensive involvement and recent shot volume gives him a reasonable chance of reaching four again.
