The Islanders arrive having gone 7–3–0 in their last ten games, averaging about 2.6 goals per game and allowing just 1.7 during that stretch. Their recent games include a 1–0 shootout win over the Seattle Kraken and a 3–1 loss to the Boston Bruins despite generating 45 shots. That game dropped their record to 0–4–2 in outings where they produce 40 or more shots.
The Flyers are 6–2–2 across their last 10 games, getting a 4–2 comeback win over the Florida Panthers this week where they erased a 2–0 deficit. The Flyers will try to take advantage of the struggles of the Islanders on the power play so far this season, with New York entering this game with a 12.7% conversion rate with the man advantage.
For Philadelphia, netminder Dan Vladar enters likely as the starter. He has a 9–4–1 record, 2.39 goals-against average, and a .913 save percentage. His reliability gives the Flyers a chance to stay competitive even in tight games. On the Islanders’ side, while Ilya Sorokin remains the established starter, it’s possible that David Rittich could get the nod or split duties. Rittich recently led the Islanders to a 1–0 shootout win over Seattle with a 19-save performance and a perfect shootout in net.
The Flyers rely heavily on Trevor Zegras, who leads the team with 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) in 22 games. His ability to create offensively and jump-start scoring chances will be crucial against an Islanders defense that recently has tightened things up a bit.
On the Islanders side, veterans like Kyle Palmieri and Bo Horvat remain central to their attack. With their physical style and disciplined forechecking, they could exploit any lapses by Philadelphia’s defensive pairings in this contest.
Player | Projection |
|---|---|
Trevor Zegras (PHI) | Over 0.5 points |
Kyle Palmieri (NYI) | Over 0.5 points |
Score Projection: Islanders 3 – Flyers 1
Win Probability: Islanders 60%, Flyers 40%
I am going to take the Islanders to get a win on Friday and give themselves a chance to move up in the Metro Division standings. The Isles have been very good defensively of late and that should help New York to shut down the visiting Flyers here.
