Friday night’s NHL schedule features a New Jersey Devils vs Dallas Stars meeting between two of the league’s better teams heading into the All-Star break. The Stars lead the Central Division while the Devils are sitting in second place in the Metropolitan Division to make this game a battle of two contending teams in their respective conference. Let’s take a look at the best NHL betting prediction for this Devils vs Stars contest.

This game will be played at American Airlines Center at 8:30 PM ET on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Why Bet the Stars:
✅ The Stars easily dispatched the Devils in their previous meeting this season, winning 4-1 on the road in New Jersey on December 13.
✅ New Jersey will be a tired group playing the second game of a road back to back on Friday night. The Devils also played in four straight overtime games prior to Thursday’s loss to the Nashville Predators. Expect the Stars to have the fresher legs of the two teams
✅ The Devils typically average 34 shots per game but likely will see less chances against the Stars, especially on a back to back. Dallas held the Carolina Hurricanes to 24 shots in their last game, significantly reducing the output of the top ranked Canes who are averaging 35.1 shots per game.

New Jersey Devils
The Devils have cooled off slightly after tearing up the league to start the season but will still head to the All-Star break as one of the success stories of the season. 31 wins in 48 games has the team second in their division and on a clear path to a playoff spot nobody saw coming back in September.
New Jersey has had a successful but chaotic January. The Devils are 8-2-2 in the month but many games have been won in the dying seconds or in overtime, as evidenced by their recent streak of four straight games needing more than 60 minutes of play.
Jack Hughes has led the way for the Devils for much of the season. The young emerging star is on a seven game points streak with 31 goals and 62 points this season.
After Mackenzie Blackwood got the start on Thursday night, expect Vitek Vanchek to get the nod in goal against Dallas. Vanecek is 20-5-2 this season with a 2.30 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Vancek will look to continue New Jersey’s strong road record this season as they are 18-2-2 away from home.
Dallas Stars
The Stars had an opportunity to make a statement at home against the Carolina Hurricanes in a potential Stanley Cup Finals preview this week but fell short in overtime. Dallas blew a 2-1 lead when Martin Necas scored in OT, handing the Stars their second straight loss at home to an Eastern Conference opponent after also losing in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres.
January has been a middling month for the Stars who have merely maintained their first place spot in the Central Division. A 5-4-3 record in the month entering Friday night gives the Stars plenty of room for improvement to finish the second half of the season strong after the All-Star break.
Jason Robertson continued to lead the Stars with his goal scoring against Carolina, scoring both of their two goals in the loss. Robertson has 33 goals and 66 points to lead the Stars in scoring. Veteran playmaker Joe Pavelski has 33 assists, tied with Robertson for the team lead.
Watch out for Dallas pulling away with this game in the third period against a Devils team playing on a back to back. The Stars are fourth in the league in third period scoring with 63 on the season and could exploit a Devils team running on fumes in the final frame.
