NHL Central Division Favorites
The winners of the Central Division in the NHL during the 2023-24 season were the Dallas Stars. Dallas won this division by just three points over the second-place Winnipeg Jets, while the Colorado Avalanche finished in third place at six points back of Dallas. All three of those teams played very different styles of hockey, which created a compelling race for the top spot, which the Stars eventually won.
This year, the Stars are the favorites to win this division once again, but they are facing some heated competition from the other teams in this division. The Minnesota Wild are off to a very good start and are exceeding expectations, while the Winnipeg Jets are also in contention after a strong start to the year. Colorado is also still in contention, even if they have some catching up to do in order to catch the top-three in this division race.
2024-25 Central Division Longshots
As for the longshots to win this division, there are four of them. Utah Hockey Club is playing its first season in its new home after relocating from Arizona. The St. Louis Blues are looking to get back to relevance in this division and in the league as a whole. The Nashville Predators have been terrible on the road, which has effectively ended their chances of winning this division. And the Chicago Blackhawks are looking to put together a better year after a horrible season in Connor Bedard’s rookie campaign.
