The Wild have been playing well lately, securing a third straight victory via a late goal against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Their ability to close out tight games could prove key against a Boston squad riding its own winning streak. Minnesota’s last several outings included a 5-2 triumph over the Dallas Stars highlighted by Marcus Johansson’s two goals and strong contributions from Matthew Boldy. The Wild are in third place in the Central Division and in the Western Conference as a whole going into this matchup.
Boston arrives in solid form as well, having extended its win run with a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets, bolstered by standout performances such as David Pastrnak’s multi-point effort. Boston’s four consecutive wins indicate an offense capable of strong output. Boston hasn't played since Thursday and will try to use their rest advantage to win this contest against a team on the second game of a back-to-back.
Goaltending could shape the outcome of this game. Minnesota’s Jesper Wallstedt has been an emerging star, earning recognition for stellar play that included a month with a near-perfect record and a sub-1.20 goals-against average in November. If Wallstedt starts, Minnesota’s defense becomes much more difficult to break down. For Boston, Jeremy Swayman has delivered strong results with a save percentage north of the .910 mark.
Boston’s offense features multiple avenues for production. David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie lead their roster in scoring and have played at an impressive level all season. Their ability to generate offense at even strength and on the power play will be vital in challenging a disciplined Minnesota defense. On the Minnesota side, Matthew Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov anchor their attack. The recent addition of Quinn Hughes on the blue line adds depth and playmaking ability to Minnesota’s offense.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Kirill Kaprizov (Wild) | Over 0.5 Points |
David Pastrnak (Bruins) | Over 0.5 Points |
Morgan Geekie (Bruins) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Bruins 4 – Wild 3
Win Probability: Bruins 53% | Wild 47%
The scheduling going into this game will be a huge factor for both of these teams. The Wild are on the second game of a back-to-back, while the Bruins have had multiple days off. That should make the difference, as the Bruins should get a win on the road as a slight underdog.
