The Jaguars’ biggest move of the offseason was the decision to pay Trevor Lawrence a whole lot of money. But outside of that maneuver, the Jags had a decent enough offseason. Bringing in Gabe Davis and Devin Duvernay to provide some added weapons for Lawrence is a nice tough, while they did a good job on defense with the acquisitions of Arik Armstead and Ronald Darby.

On offense, the Jacksonville Jaguars were mediocre and then things really fell off a cliff over the final few weeks of the regular season. This year, Lawrence is back, which should mean that the Jaguars will at least have a fighting chance to have success when they are in possession of the football. But turnovers have to improve this season, as the Jags turned the ball over more than any team other than the Commanders, Jets, Vikings, and Browns in 2023.

Jacksonville was pretty average on defense last year, which helped them to keep things afloat when the offense struggled. They should be better this year thanks to their offense giving them more of a break. But the Jags are suddenly in a division where they face a couple of promising and dynamic quarterbacks in CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson, which could hurt them on that side of the ball.
Positives & Negatives
Jacksonville’s biggest positive is the return of Trevor Lawrence, which will give them a shot to get back to where they need to be offensively in the near future. The Clemson duo of Travis Etienne and Lawrence will be back together, which should mean the best version of the Jacksonville offense, even if there is room for improvement for Lawrence coming into this year.
When it comes to negatives, turnovers are a glaring concern for this team. Lawrence threw 14 interceptions last season, while Jacksonville also had horrible fumble luck. That should get better this season, but you just never know how the ball is going to bounce in the NFL.

The end of last season for the Jaguars was a major concern going into this year. Lawrence and the offense fizzled out down the stretch and we could see more struggles from Lawrence even if he has some new weapons around him. We will cautiously take the under on Jacksonville’s season win total, as they strike us as a team that will finish below .500.
