The first game on the NFL Wild Card weekend schedule is Browns vs Texans on Saturday afternoon. While this game is not being given primetime positioning in the NFL postseason schedule, it is a game that has the potential to be one of the most exciting of the weekend. Between the huge age gap between starting quarterbacks Joe Flacco and CJ Stroud and the skill position talent on both sides, this could be another memorable matchup for the Texans in the Saturday afternoon Wild Card slot.
In this contest, we like the game to go over its total of 44.5 points, as the first meeting between these teams did in the regular season. Cleveland lit up the Texans defense in that game through the air, with Amari Cooper racking up 265 receiving yards for the Browns. While we may not see that kind of performance from Cleveland in this game, we should still see them move the ball effectively.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland defense is a question mark coming into this matchup. On the road, the Browns have really struggled defensively over the last couple of months of the regular season. They have allowed nearly 30 points per game over their last five road games, and over 28 points per game if you throw out last week’s meaningless game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Also worth noting going into this Browns vs Texans playoff matchup is the fact that CJ Stroud was not on the field the first time these teams met this season. Davis Mills was the quarterback for the Texans in the first game between these teams, which negatively impacted the Houston offense early on. In this game, we expect more from Houston offensively, as their Rookie of the Year candidate will be back under center after leading his team to the AFC South title last week.
