The Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks will meet in Madison Square Garden on Sunday evening. The Raptors enter this game in second place in the Eastern Conference, while the Knicks are in third place in the East. New York is favored at home in this preview of the NBA Cup quarterfinals. The Raptors enter this contest without a full roster. RJ Barrett will miss the game due to a right knee sprain. His absence is a blow, as he’s been averaging 19.4 points per game this season and has been a primary scoring option. On the Knicks’ side, Landry Shamet remains sidelined with a shoulder injury. OG Anunoby is still not cleared either, which will continue to hamper New York’s perimeter defense.
Despite those injuries, both teams have played at a high level lately. The Raptors have won nine of their last 10 games, while the Knicks have won three games in a row. But only one of these teams can continue their winning ways with a win in this matchup. Defense will be the key to this matchup, as both of these teams are averaging right near 120 points per game and are tough to stop.
Score Projection: Raptors 110 – Knicks 120
Win Probability: Raptors 42%, Knicks 58%
The Knicks should be able to continue rolling on their home court in this matchup. The Knicks are 9-1 on their home floor this season and they should get the job done there again in this game. Expect Karl-Anthony Towns to take advantage of the favorable matchup that he is set to see from the Raptors' defense, which will propel the Knicks to a convincing victory at MSG.
