The San Antonio Spurs travel to Houston on Tuesday for a Western Conference showdown with the Houston Rockets. The Spurs have surged to a 30-13 record and are competing near the top of the Western Conference standings, while the Rockets sit at 25-15 and are looking for a third consecutive victory. Here, I break down this huge matchup in the West and bring you my Spurs vs Rockets prediction right here.
Pick: | Rockets -3.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
San Antonio enters this game with momentum, having just secured a third straight win with a strong all-around performance led by Victor Wembanyama. Wemby logged 33 points and 10 rebounds in a 123-110 victory over the Utah Jazz. Wembanyama, now an All-Star starter, is leading the Spurs in scoring, rebounding, and blocks this season. That has made him a central figure in San Antonio’s offensive and defensive production. He is expected to start alongside De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Julian Champagnie, and Harrison Barnes, giving the Spurs a balanced group when healthy, though Devin Vassell is questionable for this game with a thigh injury.
Houston comes into this contest with a roster anchored by Kevin Durant, who has been among the league’s most reliable scorers at 26.1 points per game. They can also count on quality interior play from Alperen Şengün, who leads the Rockets in both rebounds and assists. Durant recently celebrated climbing to sixth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, helping the Rockets to win two straight games and three of their last four. Houston’s ability to shoot effectively from beyond the arc and maintain defensive intensity will be key in containing San Antonio’s free-flowing offense.
Score Projection: San Antonio 114 – Houston 119 ATS PRO
Win Probability: San Antonio 48%, Houston 52% ATS PRO
This rivalry game shapes up as a close battle with both teams capable of taking control late. Both teams are playing incredible basketball this season. But I lean toward the Rockets to get the win in this contest and to cover the spread at home, as Durant should be able to take over with his trademark scoring touch late in this one.
