Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview
Last season was a huge letdown for the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite having one of the top one-two punches in the NBA, the Sixers once again fell short in the second round of the postseason. This year, uncertainty will be a huge factor early on for the Sixers, as it does not look like James Harden wants anything to do with the franchise, which will need to figure out how to make up for his lost production.

Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Kelly Oubre Jr., Danny Green, Mo Bamba, Patrick Beverley
Key Departures: Georges Niang, Dewayne Dedmon
This offseason was an interesting one for the 76ers. Bringing in Kelly Oubre and Patrick Beverley could be positives for the franchise going into this year. But the Sixers are unlikely to have James Harden, who has refused to show up for team activities so far, which is a massive negative for the team. We would have to expect a trade for Harden to take place at some point, in hopes that the Sixers can get someone who can play basketball right now to replace him.
Positives & Negatives
The presence of Joel Embiid is the number one positive for the Philadelphia 76ers right now, even if there are trade rumors surrounding him as well. The reigning league MVP will continue to get to the free throw line whenever he wants, even as his trips to the line come at the expense of anything resembling exciting or attractive basketball. He will keep the Sixers in contention in the Eastern Conference despite everything going on around him.
Unfortunately for the Sixers, there is a lot going on around Embiid. They are in danger of losing James Harden and players like Tobias Harris and Oubre are not likely to pick up the slack. If Harden does not return to the team, Philadelphia is likely not a title contender any longer, even if they could compete in the East.
2023-24 Philadelphia 76ers Win Total Prediction: Under 48.5 Wins
Given the James Harden situation, it is hard not to take the under on the 76ers season win total going into this year. Embiid will continue to do great things, and we could see his usage increase even more without Harden there to dominate the ball. But there just are not enough top-tier weapons on this team without Harden around for the Sixers to be a 50-win team.
