Chicago Bulls Betting Preview
Last season, the Chicago Bulls made the NBA Playoffs, but were embarrassed once they got there by the Milwaukee Bucks. After a great regular season, featuring an MVP-level year from DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls left last year with a bad taste in their mouths somehow. This season, there is still some uncertainty at the point guard position for the Bulls, but they have many of the same weapons that made them a playoff team a year ago.
Chicago made a couple of moves in the offseason to address their depth, but the real question is whether their current core can make a deep playoff run. The trio of DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic were simply not good enough in the playoffs last year, and will need to be better if the Bulls want to escape the first round this year. Until we find out if they are, the Bulls may be in a bit of a holding pattern.

Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Goran Dragic, Andre Drummond
Key Departures: Tristan Thompson
This offseason was a disappointment for the Bulls, as they failed to make their team materially better than they were a season ago. Swapping out Tristan Thompson for a couple of players that did not help the Brooklyn Nets get through the first round with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last season doesn’t move the needle at all.
On top of that, news in the offseason has indicated the Lonzo Ball’s return is not a sure thing this season. While Ayo Dosunmu did a nice job at the point guard spot in Ball’s absence, being able to use Ayo as the backup point guard with Lonzo as the starter is a much better situation than the Bulls are in now.
Positives & Negatives
On the positive side for the Bulls, they have the framework of a team that can make a deep playoff run. They have a player who can score late in games dependably in DeRozan, a versatile big in Vucevic who can stretch the floor, and a player in LaVine who has star potential. Those are undeniably positive things, even if it feels like there is a ceiling for this particular group.
The major negative for this Bulls team is that it feels like they are simply not equipped to hang with the top dogs in the Eastern Conference. LaVine, DeRozan, and Vucevic have achieved nothing combined in the postseason in their careers. And without their starting point guard, one has to wonder if they will avoid the play-in tournament this season.
2022 Chicago Bulls Win Total Prediction: Under 41.5 Wins
It feels weird to say that this Bulls team could finish below .500 on the year, but they were a 46-win team even while having Lonzo Ball for a period of time. Without Ball, this team is going to initiate its offense through a lot of mid-range shots and is not going to be as efficient as they were a year ago. Combine that with the realization that this team is not built to break through in the East, and things could go bad quickly, and we will take their under on the season win total front as a result.
