Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview
The Charlotte Hornets were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, with only three teams finishing with fewer wins than they had. This season, the Hornets will have several key players back on the floor, but there are still questions about just how good this team can be, and whether a rather toxic franchise culture will get in the way of any improvement.

Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Miles Bridges, Brandon Miller, Frank Ntilikina
Key Departures: Jalen McDaniels, Dennis Smith Jr., Kelly Oubre Jr.
The Hornets got one of the top prospects in the most recent NBA Draft, bringing in Brandon Miller out of Alabama. They will also have Miles Bridges back after he serves a suspension, which is incredible given the juxtaposition of the team dumping Kai Jones for simply being a weirdo on the internet while not committing any crimes. Unqualified legal analysis aside, it will be interesting to see how Bridges looks when he gets back, and if the addition of Frank Ntilikina can provide any sort of defensive help.
Positives & Negatives
On the positive side for the Hornets, there are going to be a lot of players back that were missing for most of last season. Bridges gives them some athleticism that they were lacking for most of last year, while the return of LaMelo Ball will give the team more of a heartbeat than they had for the majority of the 2022-23 campaign.
However, this team is a dumpster fire culturally, and that will hold them back as usual. In the same division, a team like the Miami Heat uses its culture to wring more wins out of their roster, and it feels like the Hornets routinely do the opposite. Combine that with a miserable group of defenders, and there is certainly a ceiling in place for the Hornets.
2023-24 Charlotte Hornets Win Total Prediction: Under 31.5 Wins
This year’s Hornets team is going to be bad once again, even if LaMelo Ball is around to splash threes and provide highlights here and there. The frontcourt situation for this squad is a nightmare, and their guards are not exactly good enough on defense to cover that up. Look for another sub-30 win season for the Hornets and for some of their key players to be shut down early.
