The Brooklyn Nets travel to South Florida on Thursday night for a meeting with the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center. These teams enter the game in very different positions in the Eastern Conference standings. Miami is battling to hold a postseason spot while Brooklyn continues a rebuilding season that has included long losing streaks and inconsistent offense. That gap in performance has also shown up in the betting markets, where Miami enters this Nets vs Heat game as a heavy favorite.
Pick: Miami Heat -12.5
Confidence: 4 out of 5
The Heat continue to lean on its defense and efficient ball movement as they compete in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff race. Miami has posted a defensive rating among the top units in the league and has been particularly strong at home. Their offense has also been more productive in Miami, where the team averages well over 120 points per game.
Brooklyn, on the other hand, has struggled for much of the season. The Nets average fewer than 107 points per game, the lowest mark in the league, and their defense has had trouble containing opposing scorers. The team has also had difficulty on the glass and ranks near the bottom in rebounds per game. Those issues have led to a significant negative scoring margin.
Miami Heat
Brooklyn Nets
Stat | Brooklyn Nets | Miami Heat |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 106.8 | 119.9 |
Points allowed per game | 115.6 | 116.7 |
Team Field Goal % | 44% | 46% |

Score Projection: Brooklyn Nets 107 – Miami Heat 122
Win Probability: Brooklyn Nets 23%, Miami Heat 77%
All signs point to Miami holding a clear edge in this contest. The Heat have the stronger defense, more balanced offense, and a major advantage on the glass. Brooklyn’s reliance on Michael Porter Jr. for scoring has made the offense predictable, and the Nets have struggled to stay competitive against stronger teams. I am going to lay the points with the Heat here, as they should blow out the Nets in South Florida.
