The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat will square off Thursday in a key Eastern Conference rivalry game at Kaseya Center. This game pits two competitive teams against each other, both of whom are in position to play postseason basketball this year. The Celtics enter with a 24-15 record and face a Heat squad that is 21-19. Before this important matchup from Miami tips off, you will find my Celtics vs Heat prediction right here.
Pick: | Heat +2.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
Injuries are a huge factor for this matchup. The Celtics are without star Jayson Tatum for the season due to an Achilles injury, and Josh Minott remains unavailable. Jaylen Brown is listed as day-to-day but is expected to play. Derrick White and Payton Pritchard have taken on greater offensive loads in Boston’s balanced attack, with Brown still averaging nearly 30 points per game, but getting support from other sources. Boston’s defense ranks among the best in the league, yielding just over 110 points per contest, helping keep the team competitive despite missing its franchise cornerstone.
The Heat enters this game with their own uncertainties. Norman Powell leads Miami in scoring, while Bam Adebayo continues to give solid production inside. However, Tyler Herro and Nikola Jovic are listed as probable, Jaime Jaquez Jr. is questionable, and Davion Mitchell is doubtful. Miami’s defense ranks fourth in efficiency, but the potential absence of Mitchell could erode their perimeter defense. Miami’s offense sits around the top five in the league in scoring, but defensive lapses have led to high-scoring affairs this season.
Both teams have dropped three of their last four games coming into this contest. The Celtics most recently took a loss to the lowly Indiana Pacers on the road and will try to respond to that disappointment. The Heat ended a three-game losing streak with a win over the Phoenix Suns in their last outing.
Score Projection: Boston Celtics 115 – Miami Heat 118 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Celtics 48%, Heat 52% ATS PRO
This should be a tight game between two teams that are no strangers to playing high-intensity games against one another in the recent past. As for the result of this contest, I'll take the points with the Heat, as they could very well get a second straight outright win at home against a quality opponent.
