The Atlanta Hawks head north for a Monday night test against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. Minnesota has been struggling of late and will try to bounce back from a blowout loss on Super Bowl Sunday. Atlanta was active ahead of the trade deadline and will hope those moves spark a strong second half of the season. Here, I break down this contest and give you my Hawks vs Timberwolves prediction for Monday night.

Key Storylines
- Minnesota’s core form: Anthony Edwards enters at 29.6 points per game with improved efficiency, while Rudy Gobert controls the glass and Julius Randle is both a scorer and a creator. But that group has not been enough to help the Wolves of late, as they have dropped two straight and three of their last four.
- Atlanta’s centerpiece: Jalen Johnson has been the engine of the Hawks' offense at 23.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. Fresh off his first All-Star nod, and he just posted 31 points, 9 boards, and 8 dimes in the last outing for Atlanta.
- New-look Hawks: Atlanta added Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Kuminga is listed out with a knee issue, while Hield and newly-acquired Gabe Vincent are listed as game-time decisions.
- Schedule spot: Minnesota plays the second game in as many days after hosting the Clippers on Sunday, in a game where the Wolves were blown out. Atlanta played Saturday and travels with one day of downtime.

Final Thoughts
The Wolves should win this game at home, but they also should have beaten the short-handed Clippers at home on Sunday and failed to do that. I'm going to take the points with the Hawks here, as this should be a tight game even if the Wolves do eventually get a victory that would end their recent losing streak.
