After a relatively short offseason of just over three months, NASCAR’s regular season is back in a big way, with its marquee event set to begin the 2023 season. It’s the Daytona 500, the Super Bowl of stock car racing, where speeds can push up to 200 mph, and the cars race bumper to bumper at any time, making for breathtaking action, and the risk of major wrecks in every turn.
Because of that unpredictability and so many cars being bunched up together, this is a race where longshots are always in the conversation, look no further than last year’s race where rookie Austin Cindric won in a thrilling finish.
The event also means immortality to the winner, who will always be remembered for winning NASCAR’s biggest race. And perhaps just as importantly, it means a guaranteed spot in the NASCAR playoffs later in the season, being locked down on Day 1.
Here’s a look at our NASCAR betting picks for this year’s Daytona 500.

Why Bet On Bubba Wallace:
✅ Even before a strong finish to last season that saw a win at Kansas, Bubba Wallace had established himself as one of the top super speedway racers in NASCAR, and always seems to find himself running near the front of these type of races.
✅ He finished second last season, and his last three races at Daytona have been 11th, 2nd, 2nd, showing he’s comfortable at this track and knows what it takes to run up front.
✅ He finished strong last season, and with his team, 23XI which is co-owned by Michael Jordan, settling in even more, Wallace and his team seem dialed in for 2023.

Daytona 500 Track Breakdown
Daytona International Speedway is up there for the most famous track in racing, right alongside Monaco in Formula 1, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500. The track is 2.5 miles and features steep banking in the corners. Because of its size, other than pitting or trying to avoid wrecks, drivers never touch the brakes and are running full throttle the whole way around.
Speeds will approach 200 mph, and because of being able to run wide open, the cars will run in a pack of 20-plus cars, each bumper to bumper and just inches away from the cars next to them. One misstep can set off a chain reaction of events, leading to massive wrecks that could take out half the field.
At times races on these types of tracks can feel like a random draw, but there is still a major skill aspect of combining patience with knowing when to take advantage of the openings that present themselves.
Other Drivers Who Can Win the Daytona 500
Brad Keseloswki (+1800): There may not be a better driver at Daytona than Keselowski, who even last year with a new team that struggled for most of the season, was in position to win, running up front most of the race. Already has one 500 win under his belt.
Denny Hamlin (+1300): Again, a great at this track who somehow seems to see things others don’t, as evidenced by his three wins in this event. It’s almost a guarantee that if Hamlin can avoid wrecks, he’ll be among the Top-10 as the race winds down.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (+3000): You want a longshot, this is your guy. There are certain drivers who are ringers for certain track types, and that’s Stenhouse and super speedways. For some reason, when the cars are running their fastest and in packs, he shines. Won the summer Daytona race back in 2017.
