- Both men went the distance in their most recent middleweight title fights.
- Adesanya has seen five of his last seven fights go to decision.
The main event of UFC 305 is a great one, as Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya fight for the middleweight championship in Perth. Du Plessis most recently won this championship off of Sean Strickland, while Adesanya’s last fight was the one that put the belt around Strickland’s waist initially. Here, you will find our UFC betting picks for Dricus Du Plessis vs Israel Adesanya in what should be a great closer to the UFC 305 card.
This fight will take place at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Dricus Du Plessis
Going into Saturday’s Dricus Du Plessis vs Israel Adesanya main event, Dricus Du Plessis has not lost a fight since 2018. He hasn’t lost a fight in his time with UFC and will look to keep it that way to defend his middleweight title. But there will be questions about who Du Plessis has faced going into this main event bout against one of the best in the recent history of the UFC middleweight division.
Du Plessis beat Sean Strickland for the middleweight title, who isn’t highly regarded enough to have received a rematch despite losing to Du Plessis via split decision. While beating Robert Whittaker by knockout was impressive, Du Plessis’ list of opponents beaten in UFC isn’t as impressive as that of Adesanya, which could come into play in this title fight.
Israel Adesanya
Israel Adesanya comes into this UFC 305 main event having lost two of his last three fights. He split a pair of title fights against Alex Pereira before dropping the middleweight title once again to Sean Strickland in a fight that went to decision. Here, Adesanya will hope to get his championship back and continue alternating between wins and losses for the fifth fight in a row.
For Adesanya, warding off the versatility of the Du Plessis offense will be the key to this fight. Du Plessis averages over six significant strikes per minute landed but is also very good at getting fights to the ground and controlling them from there. Adesanya should be able to limit Du Plessis from controlling this fight, but you never know who will win out when fighters this good clash in the octagon.
