The Seattle Mariners head to Southern California on Tuesday night to open a three-game set against the San Diego Padres, with both teams entering this interleague clash trending in positive directions. Both teams have won at least four games in a row coming into this contest and will try to get a statement win in this game as well. Before the action begins in Seattle, continue reading to get my Mariners vs Padres prediction in what should be a good game from California.
While Bryan Woo has been one of the more effective starters in the early part of the season, I lean toward San Diego due to the slight gap in offensive production in favor of San Diego. The Mariners’ inability to consistently generate runs is a major concern, especially against a Padres team that is currently executing well in key moments. Even if Woo delivers another strong outing, Seattle may struggle to provide enough run support to capitalize.
Michael King has not been as sharp as Woo statistically, but he benefits from a deeper lineup and a team playing with confidence. San Diego’s recent winning streak shows a group that is controlling games from both the mound and the batter’s box. With the Padres riding a five-game winning streak and holding advantages in batting average, total runs, and overall rhythm, I'll back the home team to get a sixth straight win.
