San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction: Ohtani Pitching, Looking to Snap LA Losing Streak

An NL West rivalry continues Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium as the San Francisco Giants try to keep their recent surge going against a Los Angeles Dodgers club searching for answers. San Francisco has already taken control of the series after a 6-2 win on Tuesday, their fourth victory in five meetings against Los Angeles this season. With Shohei Ohtani on the mound for the Dodgers on Wednesday, Los Angeles will try to right the ship in this Giants vs Dodgers matchup.
Robbie Ray has quietly delivered a strong opening stretch for San Francisco. The veteran left-hander enters with a 3-4 record and a 2.76 ERA across 45.2 innings. His strikeout numbers remain excellent with 47 punchouts, and hitters are struggling to barrel his fastball when he gets ahead in the count. The Giants have not given him much support on the road, though Ray himself has continued to work deep into games.
Ohtani has looked nearly untouchable on the mound this season. Through 37 innings, he owns a 0.97 ERA with 42 strikeouts and an elite 0.81 WHIP. Opposing hitters have struggled badly against his splitter, and his command has improved with every outing. Even so, there is concern surrounding his workload after Los Angeles hinted that he may not hit while pitching this week. That could weaken the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup against a quality left-handed starter.
This game has the feel of a playoff-style pitching duel. Ray has rediscovered his form, while Ohtani has produced ace-level numbers every time he has taken the mound. The Dodgers remain dangerous because of their lineup depth, though their recent offensive production has fallen sharply. With Ohtani possibly limited as a hitter and the Giants carrying confidence into this matchup, scoring opportunities may be limited. I'll take the Giants to cover the runline, in a game that could go either way despite Ohtani's presence on the mound.
