New York Yankees vs Detroit Tigers Prediction & Same Game Parlay - 6/22/2026

The New York Yankees open a three-game series at Comerica Park on Monday night, looking to bounce back from a disappointing series loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Detroit enters the series on a much stronger note after sweeping the Chicago White Sox. While the Tigers have played better baseball throughout June, the Yankees remain favored thanks to a significant edge in overall offensive production and a frontline starting pitcher taking the ball.
Detroit is expected to start Framber Valdez, who enters the game with a 3-5 record and a 4.09 ERA across 83.2 innings. The Yankees counter with Gerrit Cole, who has looked sharp since returning to the rotation, posting a 2.57 ERA through his first five starts.
The Yankees remain one of the most productive offenses in baseball despite several key injuries. New York ranks near the top of MLB in runs scored, OPS, home runs, and team ERA, while Detroit has struggled to generate consistent offense throughout the season. The Tigers have shown improvement recently, but their overall body of work still trails New York by a considerable margin.
Valdez is capable of delivering quality outings, though he has been inconsistent this season and now faces a lineup that owns one of the league's best marks against left-handed pitching. Cole's current form and the Yankees' offensive depth make New York the preferred side for me. Detroit's recent success should keep the game competitive, but my projection leans toward the visitors pulling away late.
Parlay Odds: +405
The first leg is built around the pitching advantage. Cole has produced a 2.57 ERA through his first five starts and faces a Detroit lineup that ranks in the lower half of MLB in several offensive categories. New York also owns a substantial edge in overall run differential and season-long production.
The strikeout leg complements the moneyline selection. Cole has consistently generated swings and misses throughout his career and has quickly returned to form. Detroit's lineup features several young hitters who can be vulnerable against high-end velocity and breaking pitches.
The final piece is the under. Comerica Park remains one of the more pitcher-friendly venues in baseball, and both starters are capable of limiting damage. If Cole delivers another quality start and Valdez keeps Detroit competitive early, a lower-scoring game is the most likely outcome.
Ben Rice to Hit a Home Run +471
Rice has emerged as one of the Yankees' most dangerous power threats this season. He enters the series leading New York with 22 home runs and 53 RBI. Facing a left-handed starter gives him a favorable opportunity to continue his breakout campaign. With Aaron Judge sidelined, Rice has become a central figure in the Yankees lineup and offers solid value in the home run market.
Category | Yankees | Tigers |
|---|---|---|
Batting Average | .245 | .235 |
OPS | .770 | .708 |
wOBA | .337 | .314 |
wRC+ | 114 | 97 |
Team ERA | 3.35 | 3.85 |
xFIP | 3.83 | 4.18 |
The statistics strongly favor New York. The Yankees have been one of the better offensive clubs in baseball while also receiving top-tier pitching. Detroit has shown signs of improvement recently, particularly at home, but the season-long numbers still point toward the visitors. With Cole taking the mound and New York holding advantages in both run production and run prevention, the Yankees are my preferred betting option in Monday's series opener.
