The Atlanta Braves open a three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Monday night at Petco Park. Atlanta enters the series with one of the best records in baseball, while San Diego returns home after losing a series to Texas and struggling to generate sustained success over the last few weeks. With Grant Holmes expected to take the ball against Michael King, this game features two quality starters and should go down as one of the better matchups on Monday's MLB card.
Atlanta holds a clear advantage entering this game. The Braves have been one of the best road teams in baseball, posting a 24-14 away record, while San Diego has been an average club at Petco Park with a 19-19 home mark. The gap between the offenses is also significant. Atlanta is averaging just under five runs per game and owns a team batting average of .253, while San Diego has struggled offensively and is hitting around .220 as a team.
King has pitched well for San Diego with a 3.60 ERA and 73 strikeouts, but he faces a much deeper lineup led by Matt Olson, Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies, and several productive complementary bats. With Atlanta holding advantages in offense, overall record, and road performance, the Braves deserve to be favored in this opener.
Parlay Odds: +248
The anchor of this parlay is the Braves moneyline, as they have been excellent on the road throughout the 2026 season. The under pairs well with the expected pitching duel. King has been effective for San Diego with a 3.46 ERA, and Petco Park remains one of the better run-suppressing environments in the league. But Holmes should be able to put up zeroes alongside King, helping the Braves win and keeping this game under the total.
Matt Olson Over 0.5 Home Runs +375
Olson enters the series with 20 home runs and 51 RBIs, leading Atlanta in both categories. Even against a quality pitcher like King, Olson remains one of the most dangerous left-handed power hitters in baseball. The Braves first baseman continues to generate elite hard-contact numbers, and his power gives him value anytime his home run odds are available above +350.
Category | Atlanta Braves | San Diego Padres |
|---|---|---|
Batting Average | .253 | .220 |

Atlanta enters this game with advantages across nearly every key category. The Braves have been the superior offensive club, own the stronger pitching staff, and have dominated away from home throughout the season. San Diego has enough talent to stay competitive, especially with King on the mound, but the overall body of work of both clubs points strongly toward Atlanta going into this series opener out West.
