Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers Prediction: Sharp Angle In All-Texas Matchup

The latest chapter of the Lone Star rivalry arrives Wednesday night at Globe Life Field with both clubs trying to stabilize themselves during inconsistent 2026 seasons. Houston enters the contest at 24-32 after seeing its four-game winning streak end Tuesday in a 10-7 defeat. Texas improved to 25-29 with that victory and now turns to Jacob deGrom in an effort to secure another division win. Before the first pitch is thrown in Arlington, you will get my Astros vs Rangers prediction for this Texas two-step on the diamond.
Burrows enters with a 2-6 record and a 5.75 ERA, and the Astros have struggled to support him consistently. He has allowed 66 hits and 12 home runs across 56.1 innings while carrying a 1.53 WHIP. The right-hander has been hard to time up at times with 48 strikeouts, but command problems and hard contact continue to create trouble.
That is a dangerous combination against a Rangers lineup that finally broke through Tuesday night. Joc Pederson and Evan Carter led the way in that win, while Texas consistently punished mistakes early in counts.
DeGrom remains the clear difference-maker in this matchup. His 3.86 ERA does not fully reflect how sharp he has looked lately. The veteran right-hander owns 64 strikeouts against only 11 walks and continues to limit traffic with elite command. Texas has gone 7-3 against the run line in his starts this season.
Houston deserves credit for fighting back Tuesday after the game nearly got away from them immediately. Alvarez is swinging the bat at an elite level, and the Astros lineup finally appears capable of producing runs again. Still, the pitching gap in this matchup is difficult to ignore.
DeGrom gives Texas a major edge against a Houston club missing several important contributors. Burrows has struggled with command and hard contact, and Texas already showed signs of waking up offensively during Tuesday’s win. The Rangers should control the game if deGrom works efficiently through the middle innings. I'll take Texas to win and cover the runline at home in this rivalry matchup.
