The Detroit Tigers head to Atlanta on Tuesday night to open a three-game interleague series against the Atlanta Braves, a club that has surged out of the gate and established itself as one of the top teams in baseball through April. Detroit arrives with a winning record and a competitive rotation, while Atlanta brings a deeper lineup and one of the most efficient pitching staffs in the league. Here, I break down this Tigers vs Braves matchup and make my prediction in the betting markets.

Key Storylines
- The Atlanta Braves enter at 20-9, one of the best records in MLB, while Detroit sits at 15-14 and leads its division
- The Braves' offense has been one of the most productive units in baseball, outpacing Detroit in runs and power output.
- The Tigers have looked like two completely different teams based on where they are playing. Detroit is just 5-12 on the road so far this season but they are 10-2 on their home field. That could pose a disadvantage on the road in this game.
- This game features two starters in strong early-season form with ERAs under 3.00, which will make early scoring extremely important to the hopes of either team getting a win.
Pitching Matchup
- Casey Mize: 2-1 record, 2.51 ERA, has strong command with a 1.15 WHIP.
- Martin Perez: 1-1 record, 2.70 ERA, is a steady veteran presence for Atlanta.
- Perez has been slightly more efficient in limiting baserunners with a lower WHIP than Mize.
- Perez benefits from stronger run support and bullpen backing, on top of home-field advantage.

Betting Trends & H2H
- This is the first meeting of the season between the Braves and Tigers.
- Atlanta is 13-13-3 in the over/under market so far this season.
- The Tigers are 15-12-2 to the over heading into this game.
Tigers vs Braves Model Projection
- Score Projection: Detroit Tigers 4 - Atlanta Braves 6
- Win Probability: Detroit Tigers 42%, Atlanta Braves 58%
This game will be a competitive contest early, with both starting pitchers capable of keeping offenses in check through the first few innings. Casey Mize has shown strong command and the ability to limit damage, but Atlanta’s lineup is much tougher than what he has faced recently. Martin Perez has been steady, and more importantly, he benefits from a Braves offense that consistently produces runs and puts opposing pitchers in difficult spots. And with the Tigers struggling so much on the road this season, I'll go with the Braves to get the win at home here.
