The Cleveland Guardians open a series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. Cleveland enters the contest with a strong 34-27 record and remains in the thick of the American League Central race, but their task gets considerably tougher against a Yankees club that has been one of baseball's most complete teams through the first two months of the season. New York brings a 36-23 mark into this matchup and owns significant advantages in both offensive production and starting pitching heading into this Guardians vs Yankees series opener.

- New York enters the series with a 36-23 record and one of the best run differentials in baseball. Their +98 run differential trails only the Dodgers and Braves this MLB season.
- The Yankees rank near the top of MLB in home runs, runs scored, and team OPS.
- Cleveland has remained competitive thanks to quality pitching, but owns a much smaller run differential at +1.
- Cam Schlittler has emerged as one of the biggest pitching surprises of the season and he gets the ball for the Yankees tonight.
- The Guardians are looking to improve upon a 5-5 record over their last 10 games.
- The Yankees have won 4 of their last 5 contests entering this series.

Guardians vs Yankees Model Projection
- Score Projection: Cleveland Guardians 3 - New York Yankees 6
- Win Probability: Cleveland Guardians 34%, New York Yankees 66%
The biggest difference in this matchup is the starting pitching advantage for New York. Cantillo has delivered a respectable season, but Schlittler has been operating at an entirely different level. A 1.50 ERA across 72 innings with an 81-13 strikeout-to-walk difference is the type of production that consistently places a team in a position to win.
New York's offense also enters with a sizable edge. The Yankees rank among the league leaders in runs, slugging percentage, OPS, and home runs, while Cleveland's offense has been closer to league average for much of the season. I'll lay the runline with New York at home, as they should continue their winning ways in convincing fashion behind Schlittler.
