Cubs vs Phillies Model Projection
- Score Projection: Cubs 5 - Phillies 7
- Win Probability: Cubs 42%, Phillies 58%
At first glance, the pitching matchup leans toward Chicago. Imanaga has been far more efficient and consistent, limiting baserunners and keeping the ball in the yard. Luzardo, on the other hand, has struggled with command and contact, which could be dangerous against a Cubs lineup coming off a breakout offensive showing.
However, context matters. Philadelphia returns home, where their offense tends to perform better, and the Cubs’ bullpen remains a concern behind Imanaga. Even in their wins, Chicago has shown vulnerability in middle relief, and that could become a factor if Imanaga does not go deep into the game. The Phillies lineup still features enough power to capitalize on any pitching dip, especially in a hitter-friendly park. No matter which team wins this game, I'll take the over after the first two games of this series have flown over their respective totals.
