Braves vs Giants Betting Preview
A National League battle concludes Wednesday afternoon when the Atlanta Braves (88-54, 41-29 away) visit the San Francisco Giants (68-74, 38-33 home). Atlanta is comfortably in the top National League Wild Card spot and are just half a game back of the New York Mets in the NL East. San Francisco will not be making the postseason in 2022. This game will air live on ESPN+.
Austin Riley is having a big season for Atlanta as he leads the team with 36 home runs and Dansby Swanson leads the way with a .284 batting average. Matt Olson has driven in a team high 91 RBIs. The Braves are hitting .253 and the pitchers have recorded a 3.49 ERA and 1.19 WHIP.
Joc Pederson is the main power source for San Francisco as he leads the team with 22 home runs and Wilmer Flores leads the way with 65 RBIs. Thairo Estrada has a team high .265 batting average on the season. The Giants are batting .232 and the pitchers have recorded a 3.89 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
Braves vs Giants Pick & Prediction
Last time out, Atlanta evened the series up with a 5-1-win Tuesday. The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, with a Joc Pederson RBI single, but that was the last we saw of the San Francisco bats. Atlanta quickly tied the game up in the top of the second, with a Robbie Grossman fielder’s choice, and then blew the game open in the top of the third with three runs. The Braves added another insurance run with a Dansby Swanson RBI single in the top of the ninth inning. Atlanta outhit San Francisco 10-4 in this one.
Dansby Swanson went 2-5 with one home run, three RBIs and one run scored in the win. Michael Harris II went 2-4 with one double, one RBI and one run scored for Atlanta. Mike Yastrzemski had the only extra base hit for San Francisco, a double in the bottom of the first. Kyle Wright improved to 18-5 and Jakob Junis fell to 4-6 on the season.
Pitching Matchup: Charlie Morton (8-5, 4.08 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) vs Carlos Rodon (12-8, 2.93 ERA, 1.05 WHIP)
Tonights Pick:
Atlanta has been hot as they are 9-3 in their last 12 games and 14-5 in their last 19 games on the road. Against San Francisco, the Braves are 5-2 in their last seven games and are 6-1 in their last seven against an opponent in the National League. San Francisco is just 3-6 in their last nine games but are 4-1 in their last five home games.
This is a fun pitching matchup and I like Atlanta to earn the series win.
