But UTSA didn't look particularly impressive in that game, winning by just 12 in a game that was close deep into the second half. This week, UTSA will look to put together a more comprehensive performance to try and grab a second win in a row to begin their campaign.

While UTSA didn't enjoy a dominant performance on the scoreboard, their quarterback Owen McCown did put together a good game for them. McCown completed 28 of his 38 pass attempts for 340 yards and three touchdowns. In this game, look for McCown to attempt to replicate that performance on the road against a Texas State team that is expected to be more of a challenge for him to throw against.

Texas State Looking For More Precise Performance

The Texas State Bobcats also got a win in the state of Texas to open their season, beating FCS Lamar by a touchdown in Week 1 of their campaign. The Bobcats outgained Lamar by nearly 200 yards in that game, but turnovers kept things closer than they may have been otherwise. This week, Texas State has a chance to win a second straight game at home, but they cannot afford to lose the turnover battle the way they did against Lamar last Saturday.

Texas State led by 17 points with just over five minutes to play in their win over Lamar, before the Cardinals scored 10 points within the final five minutes of action. While the Bobcats ended up winning the game, the sloppy finish to the contest from Texas State is concerning heading into this matchup. That is likely something that was addressed during this week in preparation for this UTSA vs Texas State matchup.

In this all-Texas matchup in college football, we will take Texas State to get the win at home over UTSA.
