Jefferson, UCF Ready For First Big Test
The UCF Knights are off to a 2-0 start to their season, beating Sam Houston and New Hampshire to begin their year. While those games went very well, they were against vastly inferior competition. Now, the season really begins for UCF, as they look to begin a much better Big 12 campaign than they had last year. But to do that, they will need to pass a major road test against TCU.
This will be the first time we see UCF quarterback KJ Jefferson against a quality opponent as the signal caller of the Knights. Jefferson led Arkansas to some memorable wins in his time with the Razorbacks. This would certainly be the most memorable win of his brief time with UCF so far and, more importantly, would be a win to move them to 3-0 early in the season.
TCU Opens Conference Slate At Home
TCU is also 2-0 to start their season, though they have passed a more significant test than UCF has through their first two weeks of action. The Horned Frogs beat Stanford on the road to begin their year before beating up on FCS Long Island in their second game of the year. Here, TCU will look to start its conference season off the right way, though that will be anything but an easy task against a UCF team that has an explosive quarterback waiting for them on the opposite side.
TCU's defense has been impressive early in the year, holding Stanford under 300 yards of offense before locking down the Long Island Sharks. If they can post a similar performance against Jefferson and UCF, TCU's season could get interesting in a hurry, as a winnable game against SMU awaits them after this contest.
UCF vs TCU Best Bet
We have been impressed with the defense of TCU so far this season. And while Jefferson and the Knights offense presents a bigger test than we have seen for the Horned Frogs to this point in the year, we think TCU will pass that test. We will take TCU to win this game on the moneyline as a slight underdog in what should be a competitive contest in the Big 12.
