The James Madison Dukes and Oregon Ducks will meet in the first round of the 2025 College Football Playoff in Eugene. Oregon is a heavy favorite going into this matchup and will try to spark a deep playoff run with a win on their home turf. Before kickoff from Autzen Stadium, continue reading to get my James Madison vs Oregon prediction in the CFP.
Spread | Moneyline | Total (O/U) |
|---|---|---|
Oregon –21.5 | Oregon –2100 / JMU +1100 | 51.5 |
Alonza Barnett III was named Sun Belt Player of the Year after leading JMU’s high-powered offense. He finished the season with 2,533 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns. He is also capable of making a difference with his legs. But he struggled against the Troy Trojans through the air at times and needs to step up in this game.
Dante Moore is the starting quarterback for the Ducks. Moore had a huge year, throwing for 2,733 yards and 24 touchdowns for the season. Moore will be expected to carve up the defense of the Dukes in this matchup.
Score Projection: Oregon 41 – James Madison 14
Win Probability: Oregon 73%, James Madison 27%
JMU's rise to make the playoff is an incredibly cool story. But it's also a story that is likely to end in the first round of the CFP. I'm laying the points with Oregon in this game, as the Ducks should roll into the second round and a matchup against Texas Tech.
