- Colorado’s roster is a wreck, despite what sports media wants to sell you about a supposed turnaround under Deion Sanders.
- TCU is returning half of its starters, and their work in the transfer portal will help make up for the half of their starters that are not back.
The most high-profile Saturday afternoon game on the Week 1 college football schedule comes between Colorado and TCU. There is a huge talent gap between these two teams, as Colorado is in the midst of an attempted rebuild, but TCU will have some questions to answer as they look to build on last year’s national championship game appearance. Here, we make our college football betting picks for Colorado vs TCU.
Colorado Buffaloes
The Colorado Buffaloes had a horrible 2022 season, and their season win total is set at 3.5 games coming into this year. But in spite of those bleak projections, puff pieces are being run about how Colorado’s roster has been transformed. On Saturday, the Buffaloes could be in for a rude awakening against the TCU Horned Frogs..
The fact of the matter is that Deion Sanders is a charlatan. He was a charlatan when he started Prime Prep Academy, and hung a bunch of high school kids out to dry by giving up on what was a joke of a high school from the start. He was a charlatan at Jackson State, where he couldn’t win a Celebration Bowl, all while crowing about how he himself was the HBCU system, and not the more dedicated coaches who didn’t bail on them the moment an FBS job came calling. And he’s still a charlatan, even if the worst entities in sports media want this to work to help line their own pockets.
TCU Horned Frogs
The TCU Horned Frogs went to the national championship game last season. And while they were demolished by Georgia in that game, that was still an incredibly successful campaign for Sonny Dykes’ team. While they do not have last year’s prolific quarterback in Max Duggan, they do still have half of their starters from last season, as they look to kick off this season with a statement win over a hyped Colorado team.
This season should start with Chandler Morris at quarterback for the Horned Frogs, in his first real chance to start at quarterback in his collegiate career. He has thrown a total of 108 passes in three seasons, one with Oklahoma and one with TCU. Fortunately for him, he should be able to ease into things in this Colorado vs TCU matchup as the Horned Frogs have a decided edge in the talent and departments.
