The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown between the Siena Saints and the Marist Red Foxes on Sunday is a key late‑season battle with MAAC tournament seeding implications. Siena enters this rivalry contest with a 17‑9 overall mark and 10‑5 in conference play, battling to stay in the upper tier of the standings after back‑to‑back losses. Marist is 16‑9 and 10‑6 in league games, and is looking to rebound following an 81‑56 road loss at Merrimack. Before tip-off in this massive matchup in the MAAC, you will find my analysis and my Siena vs Marist prediction below.
Pick: Marist Red Foxes -1.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: ★★★★☆
Siena is coming off a pair of disappointing performances where its usually potent offense sputtered, shooting poorly against a stout Quinnipiac defense, and falling to 17‑9 overall and 10‑5 in the MAAC. The Saints are led by Gavin Doty, who averages over 17 points and 7 rebounds per game and remains a focal point for coach Gerry McNamara’s offense. However, inconsistencies from perimeter shooters and a tendency to struggle in crunch time have hindered Siena late in games. Siena’s confidence could also be a factor as it seeks to respond after two straight losses.
Marist has endured an up‑and‑down week, with a recent lopsided defeat on the road to Merrimack. But Marist still maintains a solid home record and defensive identity. The Red Foxes rank near the top of the conference in field goal percentage defense and hold opponents under 64 points per game on average. Justin Menard and Rhyjon Blackwell provide the main scoring threats, with Blackwell particularly effective from long range and Menard contributing efficiently inside and on the glass for Marist. The Red Foxes also have a strong 10‑2 record at McCann Arena this season and they will try to use that to their advantage in this spot.
Score Projection: Siena 69 – Marist 72 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Siena 37%, Marist 63% ATS PRO
This MAAC rivalry game should be a tightly‑contested battle with Marist holding a slight edge due to their home-court and defensive strength. Siena’s offense can keep this game competitive, but Marist’s ability to limit opponents and get scoring from several reliable sources makes it a sensible pick at home with the points. I'll take the team from Poughkeepsie over the team from Albany in this I-87 matchup in New York State.
