Princeton Tigers – Love the Home Cooking
Princeton faced the Penn Quakers in the semifinals and used a big second half to win 77-70. The Tigers have a huge advantage having this tournament being played in their home gym and the fans willed them to victory.
Hosting Yale at home, back in mid-February, Princeton were outplayed in the second half and lost 93-83 in overtime. The Tigers led by eight at the half, saw that lead evaporate, and were soundly beaten in the extra period.
Princeton is ranked as the 119th team in the nation and the second best in the Ivy League. The Tigers are just 1-3 in their Quad One and Quad Two games this season.
Yale Bulldogs – Avoid the Upset
Yale continued their great form with a dominant 80-60 win over Cornell in the semifinals. The Big Red kept the game close for the first half, and were leading at halftime, but it was one-way Bulldog traffic in the final 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs hosted Princeton back in late January and used a massive second half to win by 22 points. It was the first of two wins for Yale over the Tigers in the regular season.
Yale rates as the 64th best team in the nation, 55 spots ahead of the second place Tigers, and are 2-2 in their Quad Two opportunities this year.
Joe Lunardi would have Yale as a 13 seed if they were to win the Ivy League Championship.
