An important Big Ten game is set for Saturday afternoon when the Iowa Hawkeyes (12-6, 4-3 in Big Ten) visit the Ohio State Buckeyes (10-8, 2-5). Iowa got an unexpected break when their midweek game was postponed due to Northwestern COVID issues. Ohio State is in turmoil and have now lost five straight games. Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa hosted the Maryland Terrapins and comfortably won 81-67. The Hawkeyes jumped all over the Terps early on as they built a double-digit first half lead and never gave that lead up. Maryland was able to get the lead back to single digits for a brief time in the second half, but it was not enough to challenge the Hawkeyes. Iowa led by as many 16 points, never trailed by more than four, and covered the -5.5-point spread.
Tony Perkins had 22 points, four rebound, three assists, one steal, and two blocks in the victory. Kris Murray added 19 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks on the day.
After 18 games, Iowa is scoring 82.0 points per game, shooting 45.5% from the field, and assisting on 17.1 made shots. The Hawkeyes are allowing 72.4 points, grabbing 38.8 rebounds, blocking 4.0 shots, and stealing the ball 6.6 times.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State visited the Nebraska Cornhuskers and left with a very poor 63-60 defeat. This was a right game throughout as neither team could really get comfortable at any point. The Buckeyes led by one at the break, but it was the Cornhuskers who played the better final minutes to get the win. Ohio State trailed by as many as six points, never led by more than five, and lost outright as six-point road favorites.
Brice Sensabaugh had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and one steal in the loss. Zed Key added 11 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, and three blocks on the night.
After 18 games, Ohio State is scoring 77.0 points per game, shooting 46.7% from the field, and assisting on 12.7 made shots. The Buckeyes are allowing 66.1 points, grabbing 39.3 rebounds, blocking 4.1 shots, and stealing the ball 5.2 times.
