The Georgetown Hoyas have not improved under the tutelage of Hoyas legend Patrick Ewing. They have gone 7-24 this season and 2-18 in conference play in the Big East. Here, they are double-digit underdogs in what is expected to be their final game of the 2022-23 season.
If Georgetown is going to win this game and keep its season alive for at least one more day, Primo Spears is going to need to play one of the best games of his career. Spears averages 15.9 points per game, but has stepped up against top teams at times this season, such as his 37-point performance against Xavier. If he can go off in this game, the Hoyas could at least have a chance to shock their Big East rivals.
Villanova Wildcats: Unfamiliar Territory Entering Big East Tournament
Normally, the Villanova Wildcats have already solidified their place in the NCAA Tournament by the time the Big East Tournament comes around. But that is not the case this year, as they enter conference tournament play at 16-15 overall and 10-10 in conference play. The only way Villanova will get into March Madness this year will be to win the Big East championship, and they will look to start a run to that title here against Georgetown.
Villanova has beaten Georgetown already this season, but they have to be careful of an upset threat from the Hoyas. During the regular season, they beat the Hoyas by just four points at home, despite entering that matchup as 13.5-point favorites. Villanova cannot afford to take this game for granted, as doing so could lead to their season ending much earlier than the norm.
