- Arizona has been much better at shooting threes than Clemson so far in this tournament, which will give Arizona a huge edge in this matchup.
- Clemson has shot over 50% from two-point range in this tournament so far but that shouldn’t happen with Oumar Ballo patrolling the paint for Arizona.

One of the key questions going into this Clemson vs Arizona matchup in the Sweet 16 is whether or not the three-point shooting of Arizona will continue to be as good as it has been. The Wildcats shot 44% from three-point range against the Dayton Flyers in the second round, winning that game by double-digits. A similar shooting night from Arizona tonight could send them to the Elite Eight with ease.
On the flip side, Clemson simply must be better shooting from the outside if they want to have a chance to advance in this tournament. The Tigers have shot under 35% as a team from three-point range. That will not be good enough against a team like Arizona that is better at defending the paint than the New Mexico and Baylor teams that Clemson has defeated so far.
Clemson’s defense has been a major story in this tournament so far, allowing just 60 points per game to the two explosive opponents they have faced. But New Mexico and Baylor have shot a combined 9/49 from three-point range against Clemson in this tournament so far. While some of that has to do with the defense of Clemson, it also has to do with poor shooting from their opponents so far. The Tigers are unlikely to have the luxury of getting a bad shooting night from an opponent tonight, which could see their tournament come to an end.
In this Clemson vs Arizona game, we recommend laying the points with the Arizona Wildcats. Their ability to shoot the three and limit two-point shots should help them get to the Elite Eight. From there, they will face the winner of the game between Alabama and North Carolina, which also has the potential to be a memorable matchup from Los Angeles.
